Seems the
iPhone is causing a tizzy in Germany as hopeful subscribers are registering and calling Apple's leading retailer over yonder at a crazy rate. To date, 57, 000 folks have signed up for more info, with a thousand or so more getting on board each day. Apparently 58 percent of the iPhone faithful would be willing to switch to the as of yet
unannounced carrier, at a
mystery pricepoint, on the surprise date. Here's hoping they get that bit of PR out of the way soon so the Euro-iPhone madness can commence.

I just got a chance to play with an iPhone yesterday at the apple store. It was fun. But there is no way in hell I'd sign up with an unproven service provider. That's completely stupid, and I'm not afraid to say, obsessive. I know I know, the fanboys, but I'm pretty much an apple fanboy.
Also, I love this bit of irony: hearing from friends, and people who've commented on this site, the biggest complaint w/ at&T thus far is that they get dropped calls all the time. This coming from customers of the company who absorbed "the network w/ the fewest dropped calls." I'd get really frustrated every time I got a dropped call. :-)

Remember, this is germany - not the US.
There are 4 carrier's with their own network and they basically all have great coverage or roaming agreements with T-mobile in area's they don't.
I've never had a dropped call in the city before in my life.

Funny thing is, I've been with AT&T since it was AT&T Wireless, and I get great coverage and call quality all around Texas. When I was with VoiceStream aka T-Mobile, and Sprint before that, call quality sucked. Sure times have changed, but there's a reason almost everyone in Texas uses AT&T...

Yes, I'm sure "almost everyone" in Texas uses AT&T. All 23.5 million of them.

Actually yes, it seems as though almost everyone in Texas uses AT&T, probably because of the amount of jobs they bring to the area with buildings all around Houston, Austin, and Dallas, and with their HQ being in San Antonio. Plus, Cingular aka AT&T does have the largest coverage in the state. After all, there has to be a reason why most of my classmates, most of my neighbors, most of my friends, and most of the cell phone stores here in Dallas are AT&T...

I'm from Houston and I don't know anyone who uses AT&T. I use t-mobile. Most of my friends do. I know people who do use at&t and I know people who use sprint. I've never had any trouble with t-mobile, in fact i switched because at&t gave me lots of trouble. I even got my contract break fee nulled.
